    Jaguars all-tourney

    Liz Coughran of Los Gatos and Tiffany Scaglione were each named to the all-tournament team after leading the San Jose City College women's basketball team to a second-place finish at the Ventura Tournament recently.

    Scaglione tossed in 16 points to lead all San Jose scorers in the championship game against host Ventura, but the Jaguars lost 69-58. Coughran, a former star at Los Gatos High, added 14 points.

    Basketball Signups

    Signups for the Diamond Jim 16-and-under basketball season will be held Dec. 11, 3-5 p.m., at Del Mar High School. Signups are open to teams and individuals. For more information, call Mike Rudder at 408.591.6714 or 408.376.0750.

    Sports Camps

    The San Jose Parks and Recreation Department will offer holiday sports camps for youth Dec. 20-22, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, at the Camden Lifetime Activities Center and Camden Avenue and Union. The cost is $40, and basic instruction in basketball, soccer, volleyball, Frisbee and more will be offered.

    PAL Baseball

    The San Jose PAL is accepting signups for the 2000 season for players ages 7-12. New players must provide a birth certificate. For more information, call Officer Kevin White at 408.272.9725, ext. 102.

    Speed Training

    The emphasis will be on speed when athletes training for football, basketball, soccer, baseball and track get together for a speed, quickness and jumping clinic on Dec. 11, 9-11 a.m., at the Los Gatos High School track.

    Baseball Camp

    Stanford assistant baseball coach Mark O'Brien will host the annual Stanford baseball camps for players ages 12-18 on the Stanford campus.

    The camps will feature hitting and defense, with a special camp for pitchers ages 13-18. Camps will be held Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-29 at Sunken Diamond, and the cost is $110 per session.

    Officials needed

    The Northwest YMCA of Cupertino is looking for officials for the upcoming winter basketball league season. Officials will be paid $6-7 per hour, depending upon experience. The YMCA offers extensive training, so no experience is necessary. League play runs Jan. 8 to March 4, and officials must commit to the entire season. Games are played on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, call Paxton Griffin at 408.257.7160, ext. 19.

    Roller Hockey

    The Southwest YMCA will host Saturday morning roller hockey leagues for beginner and intermediate players ages 6-11. League play begins Jan. 8, and there will be one weeknight practice each week. The cost is $80, plus program membership. For more information, call 408.370.1877, ext. 19.
