    Rams roll to win, tie

    By Dick Sparrer

Michael Lawrence knocked in two goals and goalkeeper Christian Jimenez was perfect in the net to lead the Willow Glen boys soccer team to a 2-0 win over Cupertino.

Lawrence provided the scoring in the win and Jimenez helped preserve the shut out with a "beautiful save," said coach Sue Parisi.

"It was a high shot in the upper right-hand corner," said the coach. "And he jumped and got it."

Willow Glen came back to fight Menlo-Atherton to a 1-1 tie, a moral victory considering the Rams lost 5-1 to Menlo-Atherton last year. Juan Rivera scored on a penalty kick for Willow Glen's lone goal.

Parisi praised the work of center midfielder Osbi Gonzales, sweeper Saul Villatoro and midfielder Hugo Sigala in early season play.

The Rams' record was 3-1-1 for the year following the win over Cupertino and the tie with Menlo-Atherton.
