Cowabunga tryouts

The Cowabunga Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for the 1998 season on Dec. 21 at Presentation. Try-outs will be held for girls' 16's, 15's and 14's teams, and there is a $20 fee. For more information call Ed Mattson at 779-8762.

Coaches needed

Presentation varsity softball coach Duffy D'Angelo is looking for experienced softball coaches for the junior varsity and freshman teams at the school. Practice begins in mid-January. For information, call D'Angelo at 236-3143.

Baseball Signups

San Jose Pacific Boys Baseball will hold signups for the 1998 season on Jan. 10, 11:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., and Jan. 15, 6:30-9:30 p.m., at the Round Table Pizza Parlor, Camden and Kooser. The league is open to players ages 5-14 (as of July 31, 1998). For more information, call 536-0657.

Little League

The Willow Glen Little League will hold signups for the 1998 season on Jan. 8 and 15, 6-9 p.m., and Jan. 10, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1336 Cherry Ave.

Tryouts are slated for Jan. 17 and 24 at Willow Street Park, and late signups will be accepted at that time.

Willow Glen Colt

Phone registration is being accepted for the 1998 Willow Glen Colt League season. The league is open to players ages 15-16. For more information, call 294-7109 or 526-1600.

Soccer Camps

Professional soccer coach David Gold will serve as the director for the Winter Holiday Soccer Camps set for Dec. 22-26 and Dec. 29-Jan. 2 in San Jose. The camps are open to boys and girls ages 8-18, from novice to select ability levels. Players will be grouped by age and ability. For more information, call Gold at 997-7775.

Youth Sports Grants

The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame will continue in its tradition of supporting youth sports by offering grants to youth sports organizations through its BASHOF Youth Fund.

The grants are available for youth sports groups to purchase sports equipment. Applications for the grants must be completed and returned by Dec. 31.

The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame has provided over $1,325,000 to youth sports organizations in the nine counties of the Bay Area. Last summer, the fund provided grants to 48 different groups.
