Livak is league MVP--again
Hobbs named Santa Teresa Division all-league quarterback

Courtney Livak is recognized as an outstanding water polo player by those who matter most--the coaches of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.
Because for the second year in a row, the Willow Glen polo star has been named the most valuable player in the Mount Hamilton Division.
The junior was joined on the all-league list by teammates Alicia Barreto, a junior who also returns to the post-season squad for the second straight year, and senior forward Kara Buchanan.
Presentation players won a couple of special honors on the Mount Hamilton Division all-league team.
Lindsay Fraka was named the sophomore of the year and Kayleigh Knight was picked the freshman of the year for the Panthers.
Seniors Kristina Kordesch and Kathy Villarreal were Presentation players on the all-league first team and junior goalkeeper Kimberly Fortson won a second-team berth.
Football
Chris McSwain and Andrew Palmyra of Del Mar and Bill Stouffer of Westmont won special awards when the coaches in the Santa Teresa Division of the BVAL got together to select their all-league team.
McSwain, a senior wide receiver for the Dons, was named the division's outstanding receiver and Palmyra, senior a receiver and defensive back, was picked the outstanding utility player in the division.
Stouffer, a senior linebacker and running back for the Warriors, was picked the division's outstanding linebacker.
Joining McSwain and Palmyra on the all-league list for Del Mar were senior quarterback Jason Campbell, senior defensive lineman Senad Kraja, senior linebacker Cory Sampson and junior linebacker Daniel Mayorquin.
Senior running back Mike Hilbert and senior defensive back Todd Bethke were other Westmont players selected to the all-league first team in the division.
Speedy senior running back Saladin Washington of Prospect and talented senior quarterback Bobby Hobbs of Willow Glen were the only players from their teams named to the all-league's top squad.
Field Hockey
Del Mar dominated the West Valley Division and Stephanie Nichols of Prospect was named the sophomore of the year in the Mount Hamilton Division when BVAL coaches convened to select their all-league field hockey teams for the 2000 season.
Morgan McGill topped a list of three Del Mar players to win special honors in the West Valley circuit. The junior forward was named the division's most valuable player.
Defender Missy Schaaphok was named the West Valley senior of the year and goalkeeper Veronica Syles was picked the freshman of the year. Del Mar's Gene Sampson was also named as the coach of the year in the division.
Winning all-league first team honors for the Dons were McGill, junior forward Lindsey Menkemeller, senior link Tina Leung, senior defender Kristen Oswald and senior Mandy Fine. Senior link Whitney Condie and junior link Hilary Mercante were Dons named to the all-league second team.
Westmont players earning all-league first team recognition in the West Valley Division were junior forward Karly Brownridge and sophomore defender Lauren Luque. Junior goalkeeper Petra Rossek and junior forward Nicki Baughman won second-team spots.
Nichols was named the sophomore of the year in the rugged Mount Hamilton Division, topping a list of three Prospect players named to the all-league list.
Joining the sophomore on the squad were seniors Amber Madsen and Kate Rainey, who each won second-team honors.
Willow Glen had four players earn post-season honors. Seniors Lindsey Rovai and Lisa Hunter were named to the all-league first team and seniors Stacey Santomauro and Samantha Bruni were second-team picks.
Girls Volleyball
It was a sensational season for the Presentation girls volleyball team, and the Panthers were honored for their efforts when seven players were named to the all-league team in the Mount Hamilton Division of the BVAL.
Outside hitter Amie Pfeiffer was named the senior of the circuit in the circuit. Middle blocker Katie Turley-Mahony was picked the sophomore of the year and setter Christa Conom was tabbed the freshman of the year.
Senior middle blocker Lynzy Caton and senior outside hitter Lindsay Sanford were named to the all-league first team and senior outside hitter Julie Harris and junior outside hitter Taylor Rayfield won places on the second team.
Two Prospect players nailed places on the all-league second team in the division-- junior outside hitter Cassie Gilford and senior middle blocker Jessica Mumper.
Over in the Santa Teresa Division, Westmont senior setter Emi Uenaka won top honors as the league's most valuable player.
Westmont outside hitter Stefani Carver was selected as the junior of the year in the division, and senior outside hitter Jen Brownridge won all-league second team honors.
Willow Glen's Jessie Hopkins also won special honors on the Santa Teresa all-league team. The senior middle hitter was picked to the first team.
