Leagues holding baseball, softball signups
It may seem like a long ways away, but the youth baseball and softball seasons are just around the corner. And the time to register for the spring season is now. Among the area leagues currently holding registration are:
Lincoln Glen Little League
The Lincoln Glen Little League will hold one final signup session for the 2001 season on Jan. 6, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Rec Room at River Glen Park (corner of Bird and Pine).
The league is open to players ages 5-16, and players must provide a birth certificate and proof of residency (PG&E, water or utility bill). The fee, which includes photos, trophies and a fund-raiser, is $100 (ages 5-6), $125 (ages 7-12) and $135 (ages 13-16). Tryouts for players ages 7-12 will be in January and February.

Softball Signups
The West Valley PAL Softball League will hold signups for the 2001 season on Jan. 6 and 13, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and Jan. 10, 6:30-9 p.m., at Bagby Elementary School.
The recreational fast-pitch softball league is open to girls ages 5-16, and new players must provide a birth certificate at the registration. The fee ranges from $40-55, depending on age.

San Jose PAL
The San Jose PAL Pony baseball program is holding signups for players ages 7-12 interested in participating in the 2001 season. Signups are held Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at PAL Stadium.
Players must provide a birth certificate and the registration fee of $40 for players ages 7-8, $45 for players ages 9-10 or $50 for players ages 11-12.
