Local Little Leagues hold signups
Local leagues in Little League District 12 have announced early registration for the 2000 spring season. Players must live within league boundaries and must present a birth certificate and proof of residency to enroll.
Lincoln Glen--Signups for players ages 5-18 (as of July 31, 2000) will be held Saturdays, Jan. 8, 15 and 22, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, at River Glen Park (Pine and Bird). The cost is $100 (ages 5-6), $125 (farm to major division) and $135 (junior and senior divisions). Willow Glen--Signups for players ages 5-18 will be held on Jan. 8, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and Jan. 13, 6-9 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1336 Cherry Ave. For information, call 408.450.8502.
Pitching camp--A pitching camp for youngsters ages 8-12 will be held Jan. 26-March 8 in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga. Arm care and conditioning, pitching fundamentals and defensive skills will be covered. For more information, call Burch Boehner at 408.615.7957.
PAL baseball--The San Jose PAL is accepting signups for the 2000 season for players ages 7-12. New players must provide a birth certificate. For more information, call Officer Kevin White at 408.272.9725, ext. 102.
Moreland Little League-- The league, part of Little League District 44, will hold signups for players to age 16, Saturdays, Jan. 8 and 15, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Freitas Field Snack Shack, Eastus Drive between Marilla and Del Chambre, and Wednesday, Jan. 12, 6-9 p.m. at Round Table Pizza, Moorpark and Saratoga Avenue. Challenger Division-- Signups for physically and mentally disabled youngsters, ages 7-17, may be made at any District 44 league during signup dates listed. Registration is free. Play is from March to June. For more information, call Ken or Anneliese Jones at 408.615.8807.
Quito Little League-- The league, part of Little League District 12, is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 2000).
