Sufficient supply keeps gas prices in check
AAA of Northern California. A gallon of gas in Northern California is pumping at an average of $1.68, up five cents from June. Gas prices typically increase 10 to 15 cents during this time of year. According to AAA, gas prices increase only slightly because refineries have stocked excess gas to meet increased summer demand. But the organization cautions that gas prices are likely to inch up a few more cents in the coming weeks.
Course changes
for SV marathon
Firstwave Events announced that there will be the addition of a marathon course and two new race distances for the sixth annual Mercury Interactive Silicon Valley Marathon on Oct. 27. The marathon course will begin and end in downtown San Jose and will include16 miles on the Los Gatos County Creek Trail, passing lakes, parks and a view of the Santa Cruz mountains. The marathon will be finishing at Discovery Meadows in San Jose. The event will also feature a two-person marathon relay on the same course and a ten-kilometer race, which will start and end in downtown San Jose but will stretch to Willow Glen. The additions to this year's marathon were sparked by feedback from past surveys of Mercury Interactive Silicon Valley Marathon participants. Several surveyed participants had commented that the old course lacked natural scenery. For more information contact Firstwave Events at 831.477.0965 or visit www.svmarathon.com.
