Beaman Wisdom was not speaking on behalf of Willow Glen when he made the statement "nonunion workers not welcome in Willow Glen," which appeared in the Willow Glen Resident's July 17 article, "Workers protest at construction site of Longs Drugs store." When Beaman made that statement, he was speaking on behalf of local 332 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Keep it in perspective. And before you criticize an organization such as the IBEW, educate yourselves about its history. And speaking of oppression, why were unions organized in the first place? —Matt Darwin, Leona Court |
