Missing Sox The White Sox of the Willow Glen Little League major division finished second in the District 12 Tournament of Champions. But in the story in the Willow Glen Resident describing the action, two members of the team were not included: 12-year-old Justin Finnegan and coach Nick Gullett. Senior games Let the games begin! That's the California Senior Games, and they'll be in San Jose Aug. 2-11. Opening ceremonies for the event, open to athletes ages 50 and over, will be held at the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose and will include a torch lighting ceremony. Athletes will compete in archery, badminton, basketball, billiards, bowling, cycling, 5K and 10K runs, golf, horseshoes, lawn bowling, power lifting, racquetball, rugby, soccer, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball and track and field. Local athletes in the competition will include Jay Evans, Matt Ignacio, Christopher Ahearn and Alicia Chisholm of Willow Glen. Special Olympics The fall Special Olympics season is just around the corner, and coaches are needed to prepare athletes for their events. All-star game The Independent Senior Semi Pro Baseball all-star game will be played Aug. 13, 7 p.m., at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Youth football The Willow Glen Youth Football organization, a member of the San Jose Police Activities League, is holding sign-ups for players ages 8-14 for the 2002 fall season.
