SJ club to dedicate shrine on Sept. 11

The San Jose Exchange Club will dedicate its Freedom Shrine on Sept. 11 at 11:30 a.m. at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, 408 Almaden Blvd.

The shrine will house reproductions of 28 of the most important historic American documents, including the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and the Gettysburg Address.

The documents serve as windows to America's past. "We hope these documents will remind everyone who passes the convention center of America's struggle for freedom," said Jerry Hall, chairman of the San Jose Exchange Club.

The club's objective is to install a Freedom Shrine in every junior ans senior high school in the country. However, Freedom Shrines have also found places of honor in universities, libraries, state capitols, airports, city halls and other public places where they can be studied and admired.
