Baha'i community is honoring volunteers
On Jan. 25 the Baha'i Community of San Jose will honor community organizations that work in the field of health and healing.
The organization's 22nd annual service award will be granted to Hospice of the Valley and Services for Brain Injury during a banquet that begins at 7 p.m. at the Hilton in Santa Clara.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Alfred Neumann, professor emeritus in the department of community health sciences at the UCLA School of Public Health. Dr. Neumann is also a senior advisor to Health for Humanity, a nongovernmental organization that works to promote community health worldwide.
Hospice of the Valley offers professional home hospice care to support terminally ill patients and their loved ones before, during and after the death of the patient. Services for Brain Injury helps people who have sustained a traumatic brain injury through re-education, advocacy, counseling and job training so quality of life and maximum independence is attained for both the person with the injury and his or her family.
For information or reservations to attend the Baha'i Community Service Awards Banquet, contact the San Jose Baha'i Center at 408.277.0510.
