While Lincoln Avenue has undergone almost a complete metamorphosis since the early days of Willow Glen, several of its historic landmarks remain, serving as reminders of the avenue's rich past. And while the pace has picked up on the avenue, many local merchants and residents choose to remain in Willow Glen for the sense of community that still distinguishes the area from the rest of San Jose.

| Since Willow Glen Books revived its poetry readings last fall, the crowds have grown steadily. The Feb. 17 reading, featuring Calder Lowe and Patricia Machmiller, was standing room only.
