Not all women choose reconstructive surgery

While I appreciated the article on breast cancer and reconstructive surgery options in the April 9 issue of the Willow Glen Resident, I think it's worth mentioning that not all woman opt for reconstructive surgery.

Even in our breast-obsessed society some women find it helpful to live with their scars as a reminder of their tenacity in battling cancer. Others have chosen to tattoo their chest with a personal and meaningful image after treatment. Whatever the choice, I imagine all are powerful ways of assisting those wanting to move beyond this disease.

The April 2 issue of the Willow Glen Resident incorrectly stated when North Willow Glen Neighborhood Association meetings are held. The association meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Word of Faith Church at the northwest corner of Fuller and Delmas avenues.
