InnVision honored for its community service
By Amy Jenkins
InnVision, the South Bay's largest provider of services and housing to homeless and at-risk individuals, was recently the recipient of the San Jose Magazine Lifeline Award.

The award, sponsored by Cadence Design Systems, recognizes nonprofit organizations that have dedicated time, energy and money to help needy individuals in their community.

"It is a great honor for InnVision to be recognized as a nonprofit leader in this community by both San Jose Magazine and Cadence Design Systems," said Christine Burroughs, chief executive officer of InnVision. "Their partnership and generosity has enabled us to serve thousands of homeless individuals and families each year."

InnVision volunteer Tommy Derrick was also honored and awarded the Crystal Bowl Award by the Junior League of San Jose at its 34th annual volunteer recognition luncheon at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose on April 9.

The Crystal Bowl Award recognizes volunteers for their commitment and the differences they have made in their community.

"We appreciate the leadership of the Junior League in recognizing outstanding community volunteers," said Anne Ehresman, InnVision director of community development. "It's great to be able to say more than just thank you to these incredible volunteers who have gone above and beyond."

Tommy Derrick was chosen to receive one of 15 Crystal Bowl awards for his support of the Urban Ministry Food Closet program, which is part of InnVision.

For the past six years, Derrick has picked up food daily from local grocery stores and delivered it to the Urban Ministry Food Closet in Palo Alto. As a Palo Alto resident and businessman, Derrick started the program on his own, and over time it has grown and attracted more volunteers. Derrick's work has helped countless numbers of homeless and low-income individuals receive good, nutritious food.

Vickie Quenelle will also receive a commendation for her work with the Georgia Travis Center in San Jose, also a part of InnVision.
