Golf for Kaitlyn
A golf tournament to benefit Kaitlyn Langstaff and her family will be held May 5 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at the Silver Creek Country Club. The entry fee of $150 includes green fees, a golf cart and lunch.
Raffle prizes include a signed San Jose Sharks jersey, a hockey stick autographed by Teemu Selanne, a one-night stay at Cordevalle, a round of golf for four at Silver Creek, gift certificates for Maggiano Little Italy in Santana Row and at Steamers in Los Gatos and much more.
All proceeds from the tournament go to Kaitlyn and the Langstaff family. Kaitlyn is a Saratoga 9-year-old who suffers from toxic epidermal necrolysis, a severe form of Stevens Johnson Syndrome.

Rugby tourney
The San Jose Seahawks, still seeking to win their first USA Rugby National Championship since they were founded in 1971, will host Pool A of the Pacific Coast Rugby Championships April 2627 at Watson Bowl, 23rd and Taylor streets in San Jose.
San Jose will open April 26 against the Oregon Rugby Sports Union (1 p.m.), with the Seattle Rugby Club meeting the Las Vegas Rugby Club in the other first-round game (11 a.m.). Losers and winners meet on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., with the top three teams earning berths in the National Final Four, set for June 78 in Pittsburgh, Penn.
By winning in the Pebble Beach Classic Invitational Tournament in 1989 as well as taking numerous Golden Gate Tournament titles, the Seahawks have claimed a place among the elite clubs in the nation, but their finish among the top eight the last two seasons has been their best national showing to date.

Pioneer Stampede
The 10th annual Mustang Stampede Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Pioneer High School Athletic Booster Club, will be held on May 9 at the Santa Teresa Golf Course.
The 144-player field will tee off in a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The cost is $150 per player in the four-person scramble tournament.
Youth track meet
Top young tracksters from the area will converge on the oval at Silver Creek High School on May 18, 8 a.m.3 p.m., for the Citywide Youth Track Meet, sponsored by San Jose Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services.
The meet is open to boys and girls ages 914 (born 198994), and there is no entry fee. There will be both running and field events.
