Rams Golf Classic

The 10th annual Rams Golf Classic, sponsored by the Willow Glen High School Booster Club to benefit the school's athletic program, will be held on June 3 at the Spring Valley Golf Course in Milpitas.

The field will tee off in a 2 p.m. shotgun start following registration at noon. The cost is $125 per player in the four-person scramble tournament. Dinner and awards will follow the tournament. Checks should be made payable to WGHS Booster Club and mailed to Jody Zetterquist at Willow Glen High School, 2001 Cottle Ave., San Jose, CA 95125.

Field hockey

Eighth grade girls planning to play field hockey at Willow Glen High School in the fall of 2003 are encouraged to contact athletic director Peggy Booth for summer camp information and a workout schedule. Booth can be reached at 408.535.6330, ext. 745, or at peggy_booth@sjusd.org.


Youth track meet

Top young tracksters from the area will converge on the oval at Silver Creek High School on May 18, 8 a.m.­3 p.m., for the Citywide Youth Track Meet, sponsored by San Jose Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services.

The meet is open to boys and girls ages 9­14 (born 1989­94), and there is no entry fee. There will be both running and field events. Pre-registration is not required. For more information, call Rebecca Hunter at 408.369.6435.


CyberRays camps

The San Jose CyberRays, the local women's professional soccer team, will host a four-day summer camp for girls, focusing on the fundamentals and tactical skills needed to play soccer.

The camp, for girls ages 8­16, is scheduled for June 2­5 at West Valley College in Saratoga. Sessions run 5­7 p.m. and the cost is $180 per player. Players will be separated according to age and skill level, and goalkeeper specific training will be available.

A camp for teams is set for July 21­24 at West Valley. Sessions run from 5­6:30 p.m. or 6:30­8 p.m. and the cost is $160 per player (based on a minimum of 12 players per team). There is no charge for coaches.
