It was a good year for the Willow Glen boys volleyball. And it got even better for the Rams when it came time to select the all-league team in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

The Rams racked up a 7-3 record in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the BVAL, and five Willow Glen players earned all-league recognition for their efforts.

Zach Hopkins was named the Sophomore of the Year for his performance as an outside hitter. Fellow outside hitters Frank Sarinana and Steve McGaughy were selected to the first team. Meanwhile, Craig Baker and Illjaz Mekanich received second team honors.

Softball

The Willow Glen softball team proved to have a good balance of young and old players, leading the team to a 15-9 record. Pitcher Michelle McCollum was named the Freshman of the Year in the BVAL's Santa Teresa Division. She joined senior infielder Janelle Caldron as an all-league first team selection.

Junior infielder Marina Mendez and senior infielder Angie Keeth were named to the second team.

Six Presentation players earned all-league honors in the West Catholic Athletic League.

Freshman pitcher Jamie Lettire, junior shortstop Angela Guajardo and sophomore first sacker Genny Munoz won spot on the all-league first team for the Panthers.

Claiming second-team honors were junior third sacker Ashley Calloway, senior first baseman Erin Durica and freshman catcher Coley Woyak.

Baseball

Senior infielder Jimmy Garcia was the sole Willow Glen representative on the all-league baseball team in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the BVAL. Garcia was a first-team selection.

It was a rocky year for the Rams and first-year head coach Brad Sanfilippo in the rugged Mt. Hamilton Division. Willow Glen finished 5-13 to tie with Mt. Pleasant for last place in the division. The Rams, who had a win over league champion Leland among its five league victories, finished the year 7-21 overall.
