Women's golf

The 61st annual Santa Clara County Women's Golf Championships will return to the area on Aug. 4­5 when tournament play gets under way at the San Jose Country Club.

The tourney attracts county's top women golfers, boasting the lower handicaps. Women who hold a valid golf index and either live in Santa Clara County or belong to a golf club in the county are eligible.

Open badminton

The gym at Willow Glen High School is open for badminton on Mondays this summer from 4­6 p.m. The cost is $1 to cover equipment costs and players should bring a racket and wear gym shoes.


Soccer camps

Santa Clara University will host a series of summer soccer camps for players ages 6­18 this summer.

Camp dates include: July 21­25, residential camp for players ages 9­13; July 28­Aug. 1, residential camp for players ages 14­18; and Aug. 5­8, elite residential camp for players entering their junior and senior years of high school.
