| The Italian American Heritage Foundation welcomed guests to its fifth annual achievement awards dinner June 20 at Lou's Village. Awards went to the Rev. Fred Tollini, S.J., for achievement in the arts; Tom and Tim Muller in the business and professional category; Philip A. Barone, Ed.D, for education; John Victor D'Ambrosio, in the humanitarian sector; Marge Valente, LAHF Organization; Steve Tedesco, for public service; and James J. Guido for sports. |

| This year the San Jose Home and Garden Show kicked off with a preview party May 29 that was a benefit for the Project Kids Park being constructed on city property at the corner of Sixth and Williams streets in downtown San Jose. More than 1,100 youngsters live in the neighborhood of family homes and high-density apartments. |
