Bodybuilding finals

The world's top bodybuilder, Ronnie Coleman, will be the featured poser at the 23rd annual NPC Max Muscle San Jose Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships to be held Aug. 2 in Parkside Hall, 180 Park Ave. in San Jose.

Tickets are priced at $15 for prejudging at 10:30 a.m. and $20, $25 and $30 for the finals at 6:30 p.m. For ticket information, call 408.269.6299 or 408.629.8086.


Open badminton

The gym at Willow Glen High School will be open for badminton for the final time this summer on Aug. 4 from 4­6 p.m. The cost is $1 to cover equipment costs and players should bring a racket and wear gym shoes.


Bronco baseball

Santa Clara University will offer the final Bronco Baseball Camp for high school players ages 14­18. The camp will run Aug. 8­10 and the cost is $125. Sessions will focus on hitting, fielding and pitching. SCU head baseball coach Mark O'Brien will head the camp staff consisting of SCU players and coaches. Camp with Pros

The 12th Camp With the Pros, a summer baseball camp for players ages 7-12, returns to the Santa Clara Valley.

The final camp session will be held Aug. 11­15 at the Union Little League Complex (Blossom Hill and Camden in San Jose). Hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, and camp fees are $119 per session.

Camp director is Roger Samuels, a former Branham High School and Santa Clara University star who went on to pitch for the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates. Director of instruction is Mark Cummins, a former Santa Clara University infielder who went on to play professional baseball and has worked as the head baseball coach at Live Oak High School for the past 17 years.

Former major league hurler Ernie Broglio, who won 21 pages in 1960 for the St. Louis Cardinals, will serve as pitching instructor.

Volleyball sign-ups

The Unites States Youth Volleyball League is taking sign-ups for its 2003 fall season. The eight-week program will begin on Sept. 9 at Kirk Park in San Jose. USYVL is open to boys and girls ages 8­14. League members will receive an official league volleyball, uniform top, individual medal and equipment upon signing up for the program.
