New consignment store opens on Lincoln Ave.

Paris Flea, a consignment women's clothing outlet, is one of the newest stores to join the other merchants on Lincoln Avenue.

The shop, at 1357 Lincoln Ave., opened on Aug. 6, moving into the location formerly occupied by Our Secret, a longtime established women's clothing consignment store that recently relocated to 1115 Minnesota Ave.

Storeowner Jeanette Nevin was a frequent customer of Our Secret. She decided to open her own store after consulting Our Secret owner Julie Painchaud.

Nevin will be selling similar merchandise, and the two women plan to refer customers to each other.

Police warn residents be wary of burglars

Two burglaries in Willow Glen on Aug. 5 and a third in South San Jose on Aug. 6 have prompted police to ask the community to report any suspicious activity.

The first Willow Glen burglary occurred on Aug.5 at 1:48 a.m. on Coastland Avenue. The homeowner heard a noise and went outside to investigate. She didn't see anything suspicious outside, but when she reentered her home, a strange man was inside. The woman screamed and ran to a neighbor's for help. The suspect fled.

The second incident also occurred on Aug 5., at 11:39 p.m. in an apartment on Almaden Road in Willow Glen. A woman was in her kitchen walking to her bedroom, when she saw a man standing in her bedroom doorway. The woman ran out of her residence but witnessed the man fleeing out the rear window of her apartment.

A similar burglary occurred in the early morning of Aug. 6 on Martinique Court. This address is not located in Willow Glen, but the break-in could possibly be related to the other break-ins, according to the San Jose Police Department.

In this incident, a woman awoke to find a man standing next to her bed. She screamed and pushed the man away, and the man fled through the front door, stealing the woman's computer.

Police are not sure whether the burglaries are the work of one person or more but believe the burglaries may be connected to residents reporting prowlers in the area.

On Aug. 8 the police did confirm they arrested a suspect, who they believe was involved in the prowling cases. The alleged prowler is Hector Leanos, 25.

Police are asking all residents to lock their doors and windows, to keep an eye on their neighbors and to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information regarding these cases or the suspect contact investigator Sean Pierce at 408.277.4402 or Crime Stoppers at 408.947.7867.
