Officials needed

The Fermar Corporation is looking for high school sports officials for the upcoming fall season. Officials are needed for football, field hockey, soccer, girls' volleyball and water polo.

Fermar, which has been providing officials for high school athletic events in the Santa Clara Valley since 1977, will hold meetings and clinics for those men and women interested in becoming officials.

Officials earn between $25 and $55 per game, depending upon the sport and level of competition (varsity, junior varsity, freshman), and also have the opportunity to work with youth and adult sports leagues in the area.

No experience is necessary, though knowledge of the sport a prospective official wishes to work in is important. Officials also work at their own schedule. For more information, call Fermar at 408.296.7900 or visit www.fermarcorp.com.

Field hockey

Eighth-grade girls planning to play field hockey at Willow Glen High School in the fall of 2003 are encouraged to contact athletic director Peggy Booth for summer camp information and a workout schedule. Booth can be reached at 408.535.6330, ext. 745, or at peggy_booth@sjusd.org.
