San Jose Dons hit the
road to help nonprofits
The Willow Glen-based San Jose Dons Motorcycle Club raised $2,500 in its 5th Annual Dam Run. The club donated $1,250 to InnVision and $1,250 to Achievekids in San Jose on Aug. 3.
The motorcycle run started at the San Jose Harley-Davidson dealership and ended 90 miles later in Gilroy. More than 350 riders participated in the event, with each rider contributing $20. During the ride, the bikers parked at several designated stops, where games of skill or luck would be waiting. At the end of the run, the Dons held a raffle drawing and prizes were given out.
InnVision Chief Development Officer Anne Ehresman said her organization helped to staff the run, help that was initiated by the Dons asking the nonprofit if it wanted to be a fundraiser beneficiary.
"It was a way for people to come together and have fun. People came from as far away as Stockton," Ehresman said. "We need more groups that help make social change happen."
The San Jose Dons Motorcycle Club began in 1932 and exists to advocate motorcycling and to promote safety and goodwill between riders and the public.
