Family appreciates its neighbors' togetherness
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who made the 5th annual Sandra Drive Block Party on Oct. 4 a huge success again this year.
We once again had great weather and a large turnout due in large part to the cooperation of all the neighbors. This event has gotten bigger every year, with more family members and past residents showing up. We had the entire block rocking to the sounds provided by the local club band Touch of Class playing new and old songs.
All day the kids were able to stay occupied and entertained with a Hummer Jump House supplied by Jumpers R Us. They were later thrilled to see the San Jose Fire Department fire truck from Station 6 stop by and let the kids play on it. They were then surprised with the arrival of a patrol unit from the San Jose Police Department driven by Officer John Hoge, who let them climb all over the back seat and see the lights and hear the siren, up close and personal.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Darlene Pattereau, who got the band for us on a minute's notice.
We moved to Willow Glen, and particularly to this neighborhood, because of the great spirit of family and togetherness that is unique to this area and the people who live here. There was a great time had by all, and it was only because of the effort and cooperation extended by all who live here.
—Gordon and Cindy Castro,

Couple is grateful to a mystery good Samaritan
The following incident will restore your faith in humanity. My husband and I came home from our daily walk into downtown Willow Glen. I checked our answering service and had a message from the Willow Glen Bookstore stating that someone had found my wallet in front of the store and to stop by and retrieve it.
Thanks so much to the person who called us. We feel happy to be living in Willow Glen. All the contents were intact.
—E and L Reds,
Willow Glen
