Rams tie two

The Willow Glen field hockey team fought to a pair of 1-1 ties last week in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

The Rams tied Live Oak 1-1 on a first-half goal by senior mid Janelle Zetterquist, then they tied Del Mar 1-1 when junior forward Rachel Siehl scored off an assist from senior forward Gina Brugioni in the first half.

Grelli first

Presentation finished second in the team standings to Mitty, but Michelle Grelli of the Panthers was an individual champion at the West Catholic Athletic League cross country championships held last week on the 2.73­mile course at Montgomery Hill.

Grelli covered the distance in 17:42 to finish 22 seconds ahead of her nearest rival.

Panthers third

The Presentation girls volleyball team rolled to a sixth-place finish at the rugged Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions last weekend. The Panthers lost to Torrey Pines of San Diego 25-23, 25-19, 17-25, 25-20 in the fifth-place match.

The Panthers, 23-10 overall this year, knocked off Oxnard 25-20, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23 and beat Buchanan of Fresno 25-17, 25-17, 25-12 in preliminary rounds, but lost to Stockdale 25-16, 27-25, 25-15.

In league play last week, Presentation handled Valley Christian 25-10, 25-21, 25-16 to push its record to 5-2.

Lacrosse clinic

Girls Lacrosse of San Jose will hold an introductory clinic on Nov. 16 at the Kirk Community Center, 1601 Foxworthy Ave. The clinic will run from 1­3 p.m. for middle school girls and 3­4:30 p.m. for high school girls.

Lacrosse, a non-contact sport played with webbed sticks, is relatively new in this area. Leland is one of the few area schools to field a girls team, and the San Jose Extreme is a team that was formed for girls in grades five through eight. Former Leland coach Michelle Reiss and Extreme coach Jessica Paige will lead the Saturday clinic.

Bronco baseball

The Santa Clara University baseball program will host the Santa Clara Prospect Baseball Camp on Nov. 28­30. The camp is open to youngsters in grades 10­12. For more information, call Santa Clara assistant coach Mike Zirelli at 408.554.4151.
