Great Glass Ornament Extravaganza adds fun

A holiday gift show featuring hand-blown-glass ornaments, garden art, unique gifts and Aveda products will take place Nov. 29 at Made to Match, Water Rituals in Willow Glen.

Made to Match gallery has been at its current location since 1999, and earlier this year it merged with Water Rituals to present the community with an art gallery/full-service salon. Made to Match owner Edward Seichei said that along with his art, several other Willow Glen artists will be displaying their blown-glass and stone- and steel-sculpted art at the event.

This is the first year that Made to Match, Water Rituals is holding a gift show at their salon. Those planning to attend are also asked to bring an unwrapped toy of any size to the event. All toys will be donated to Toys for Tots.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. For more information, call 408.938.9800. Water Rituals is located at 1000 Lincoln Ave.

Holiday season kicks into gear on Lincoln

Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh! Instead of a horse and sleigh, make it a horse and carriage. For the second year, the Willow Glen Business and Professional Association and its sponsors, including the Willow Glen Resident, are sponsoring the popular holiday horse-and-carriage rides through downtown Willow Glen and its surrounding streets.

The 15-minute rides begin at Siena Bistro at 1359 Lincoln Ave. on Thursday and Friday nights in December, beginning Dec. 4 and ending Dec. 19. Rides are scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and reservations are required.

The ticket price is $12 for adults and $6 for children under 5. A private ride costs $60. Carriages will be filled with four to five adults and children.

Because of last year's sold-out event, early reservations are suggested. To choose a time slot and make a paid reservation, call Don Skipwith at 408.666.1990. Tickets can be picked up at Siena and guests are requested to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled ride. Find directions at www.sienabistro.com.

Warm clothes help to ease the winter season

Junior Girl Scout Troop 383 from Willow Glen Elementary School wants to make the holidays warmer for needy families. The troop will be collecting clean, used coats, jackets and blankets during the annual tree-lighting ceremony held at the elementary school on Dec. 4, where the girls will be set up to receive donations.

The warm clothing will be donated to the San Jose Family Shelter, which the troop chose to aid during this holiday season. For more information, contact troop leader Barbara Sackles, 408.286.1232.
