The annual Holiday Soccer Camp for players ages 5­16 will return to De Anza Community College in Cupertino on Dec. 22­24 and Dec. 29­31. The purpose of the camp is to "develop new soccer skills, enhance existing soccer skills and provide a fun experience for all," said De Anza soccer coach Kulwant Singh.

Camp hours are 9:30 a.m.­12:15p.m. each day. The cost is $70 for any three days, $90 for four days, $105 for five days or $120 for all six days.

Camp directors include Singh, the head men's soccer coach at De Anza; Cheryl Owiesny, the head women's soccer coach at De Anza; and Colin Lindores, a member of the men's soccer coaching staff at the college.

Rams top Eagles

Jenelle Zetterquist knocked in a second-half goal off a Rachel Siehl assist to help the Willow Glen girls soccer team pull out a 2-1 win over Oak Grove in the league opener last week.

The Rams and Eagles were tied 1-1 at the half on the strength of a goal by Chelsea Sikk off a Karyn Faria assist, then Willow Glen snapped the tie on the Zetterquist goal.

That was enough to help the Rams clinch the win, thanks to the defensive efforts of sweeper Mayra Tostado and goalkeeper Rebekah Cremer.

Slammers softball

Resolution Run

Runners can start the new year off right and help the Los Gatos High School Track Fund in the process by taking part in the annual Los Gatos Resolution Run on New Year's Day.

The 5-mile run begins at 9 a.m. on Jan. 1 on the Los Gatos High School track and the course goes up to Lexington Reservoir and back. The registration fee of $25 ($30 after Dec. 28) includes a long sleeve T-shirt and the fee is $10 ($15 after Dec. 28) without the T-shirt.

Volleyball sign-ups

The United States Youth Volleyball League is now holding registration for the spring recreational season. The coed league is open to boys and girls ages 8­14 and the season will run for eight weeks from mid-April to June. Games and practices are held at Kirk Park.

The USYVL is an instructional league that features a fun, safe, supervised, low-pressure environment. All children play and learn the game.
