Slammers softball

Resolution Run

Runners can start the new year off right and help the Los Gatos High School Track Fund in the process by taking part in the annual Los Gatos Resolution Run on New Year's Day.

The 5-mile run begins at 9 a.m. on Jan. 1 on the Los Gatos High School track and the course goes up to Lexington Reservoir and back. The registration fee of $25 ($30 after Dec. 28) includes a long sleeve T-shirt and the fee is $10 ($15 after Dec. 28) without the T-shirt.

Volleyball sign-ups

The United States Youth Volleyball League is now holding registration for the spring recreational season. The coed league is open to boys and girls ages 8­14 and the season will run for eight weeks from mid-April to June. Games and practices are held at Kirk Park.

The USYVL is an instructional league that features a fun, safe, supervised, low-pressure environment. All children play and learn the game.

Soccer camp

The annual Holiday Soccer Camp for players ages 5­16 will return to De Anza Community College in Cupertino on Dec. 29­31. The purpose of the camp is to "develop new soccer skills, enhance existing soccer skills and provide a fun experience for all," said De Anza soccer coach Kulwant Singh.

Camp hours are 9:30 a.m.­12:15p.m. each day. The cost is $70 for all three days. Camp directors include Singh, the head men's soccer coach at De Anza; Cheryl Owiesny, the head women's soccer coach at De Anza; and Colin Lindores, a member of the men's soccer coaching staff at the college.
