Wesla Whitfield, husband join Peninsula Symphony
Two for the price of one. That's what audiences will get Jan. 16 and 17 when jazz diva Wesla Whitfield, along with husband and pianist Mike Greensill, joins the Peninsula Symphony for a true Gershwin extravaganza. Greensill brings his jazz trio and Whitfield lends a voice seemingly made for such American favorites as "I Got Rhythm" and "You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To."

The couple, praised throughout the country for their collaboration on stage and in the recording studio, are regular performers at many San Francisco venues.

Two shows, the first at Fox Theatre in Redwood City and the second at Flint Center in Cupertino, are expected to sell out, as this rare lineup pairs the cabaret singer and jazz trio with the full symphony led by Maestro Mitchell Sardou Klein. The show will open with "Porgy and Bess Symphonic Picture," "Lullaby" and the "Strike Up the Band Overture" and then the symphony will share the stage with Whitfield and the Greensill Trio.

Tickets for "Gorgeous Gershwin" are $25 for adults and $19 for students and seniors. Call 650.941.5291 or go to www.peninsulasymphony.org for additional information.
