Olivas nails CCS fourth
Willow Glen senior Sam Olivas battled his way to a fourth-place finish at 130 pounds at the Central Coast Section wrestling tournament last weekend. Olivas won by technical fall over Thomas Valdez of Alisal, pinned Mark Lahlouh of Mitty at 3:30 of the second and beat Stephen Thalin of the King's Academy 14-11 before losing to No. 1 seed Adan Marquez of Aptos 14-6. He came back to beat Eric Nakagawa of Leigh 18-4 but lost in the third-place match 14-0 to No. 2 seed Joseph Seo of Fremont. As a fourth-place finisher, he just missed a trip to the state tournament. Still, head coach Phil Luna said Olivas "had a great season."
Gymnastics event
Amy Chow, an Olympic gold and silver medal winner, will sign autographs when she makes an appearance at the annual West Valley Spirit of the Flame Gymnastics Challenge on Feb. 28, 3:45 p.m., at the Westin Hotel in Santa Clara.
Chow is a product of West Valley Gymnastics, a nationally recognized gymnastics center based in Campbell.
Six-hundred of the top female gymnasts from throughout the United States will compete in the Spirit of the Flames event Feb. 28 and 29, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, at the Westin.
Tickets are prices are $30 for the weekend, $20 per day or $10 per session for adults, $20 for the weekend, $10 per day or $5 per session for youngsters 12 and under. Admission is free for children 5 and under.

Bronco baseball
The Santa Clara University baseball program will host a Youth Spring Break Camp for players ages 512 at Bellomy Field on the Bronco campus. Sessions will be held April 57 and April 1214, 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $125 for each session.

Slammers tryouts

Rod, car show
The third annual Street Rod and Classic Car show will be held May 22, 9 a.m.3 p.m., at San Jose City College on Moorpark Avenue in San Jose. The event is free to the public.
