Bond Oversight group
needs more volunteers

The Measure F Citizen's Bond Oversight Committee is calling all volunteers!

San Jose Unified School District is asking community members to step up and consider serving a two-year term on its bond-oversight committee. The deadline to apply is April 19.

The committee advises the district on how it spends the $429 million bond, which was approved by voters in March 2002. Although the money is used toward improvements districtwide, the funds have a significant impact upon Willow Glen schools.

Residents who are interested in seeing what the committee is all about can attend the next meeting on April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the San Jose Unified School District office at 855 Lenzen Ave.

Residents are also invited to read more about the committee's history by visiting http://www.sjusd.k12.ca.us/Bonds_Construction/MeasureF/MeasureFhtml.

For more information or to receive an application, call Lynn Raspone at 408.535. 6053, email her at lynn_raspone@sjusd.org or visit http://www.sjusd.k12.ca.us/News-and-Events/CBOC_Recruiting.htm.

West Valley College
sponsors transfer fair

Getting into a four-year college just became a little easier.

West Valley College is inviting Willow Glen residents to attend its free Transfer Fair April 13, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at its Campus Center.

Representatives from University of California, California State University and private universities will be on hand to answer questions about transfer requirements, housing and financial aid. West Valley College counselors and student-services staff will also be available to tell students about transfer-admission agreements with participating universities.

"It's never too early to develop a transfer plan, and this is a great opportunity for students to learn about dozens of public and private universities and colleges in one evening," West Valley College transfer center director Michael Herauf said.

There are a variety of colleges and universities that will be on hand, including UC-Berkeley, UC Davis, University of San Francisco and San José State University and several private institutions.

For more information, call West Valley College—located at 14000 Fruitvale Ave., Saratoga— at 408.741.2040.
