Give unused business
apparel a second life

Finding the right job can be hard, but affording the right business attire for the interview can be even tougher.

To ease the wardrobe worries of disadvantaged men and women reentering the workforce, the City Connections Committee of the Silicon Valley Capital Club will hold its semiannual "Working Wardrobe" event on April 2425.

Willow Glen residents are encouraged to donate gently used business apparel to assist men and women seeking employment in the community.

"Wardrobe is ranked high on the list of 'barriers to employment' for those who participate in the City Team and Sacred Heart programs. Based on our past success, we know that this clothing goes a long way toward helping these individuals make positive first impressions during job interviews," City Connections Committee Chairwoman Lynn Gross-Cerf said.

In addition to men's and women's business clothes, items in highest demand are accessories and men's slacks, shoes and sport coats. The donations will be distributed to City Team Ministries and Sacred Heart Community Services.

All donations should be clean, in good condition and be delivered on hangers whenever possible.

Curbside drop-off for business apparel and accessories will be available at 196 North Third Street at St. James in San Jose from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 24 and 25. Tax-deductible receipts will be provided.
