One of the things that make a community paper just that is this page, the Opinion section. What we call letters to the editor.
It is the one place in the paper where you, the reader, have a voice. Usually that voice is heard when a Willow Glen citizen feels compelled to write. Often it is the result of a story or issue such as a controversial business opening or the closing of a longtime store. Residents also write when they are concerned about city projects or issues on education. That's when our paper blossoms with letters.
Then there are those times when readers write because a story strikes a chord that's either sharp, flat or downright melodic. But no matter what motivates a reader to type out an email or mail us a letter, this page sits sadly quiet without your thoughts and feelings. It's your voice that brings it to life and creates a forum for ongoing discussion about particular community concerns.
Lately this page has been quiet and we would like to see that change.
So we are inviting you to write us and chat with your fellow citizens through our paper about what's happening in the community. We certainly have plenty of issues. For starters, how about state and countywide budget cuts, which have an immediate impact on schools, libraries and services? That should stir your fingers to type because there is something in these cuts that affects us all. Tell us what you think. We are only a click away.
