Crosswalk funds are better used for services

I think the placing of lighted pedestrian signs permanently on Lincoln Avenue in Willow Glen will waste another $70,000 of precious taxpayer money that could be better used for our fire stations and police forces that the city always threatens to cut whenever it wants to try and pass another tax on the population.

And, installing those signs in Willow Glen won't stop everybody else from thinking they were shortchanged in their area of town because they didn't get the same treatment And what happens when someone's family member or dog gets killed in an non-"controlled" pedestrian crosswalk? They might just sue the city because the city didn't install an electric pedestrian warning sign at that intersection.

Please stop being a government that is protecting us from ourselves. My mother taught me to look both ways before crossing the street. I watch fools with their minds in the sky enter intersections without looking both ways first all the time. If these fools feel that they have a right to enter an intersection without looking first, they will be right, dead right.

The department of transportation needs to stop this runaway foolish spending and try something new. Keep the money in the city's pocket, I'm sure there'll be a fire station we might want to save someday.
