Store reopens with
bins full of dazzle

The beads are back.

Sew Bedazzled, which was forced to close when a fire in the adjacent cigar shop caused damage to the store, is reopening on Oct. 7. Owner Phyllis Martin says, "Two years ago when we opened we were very excited, but now we are a bit nervous."

She says all her customers have been so supportive and she can't thank them enough.

"If it wasn't for their support we probably would have turned around and run after the fire," she says.

Now the store has completely restocked its inventory with new beads. And as a thank you, during the month of October the store will take 10 percent off all sales and pay the sales tax on all purchases.

Martin says there are also "some surprises" planned, beading classes will be resuming and guest artists are scheduled to teach. One of those artists is Cooky Schock, who will be teaching wiring classes and metalsmithing. Artist Thom Atkins will also be teaching elaborate bead making. His work currently hangs in the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Sew Bedazzled is located at 1068 Lincoln Ave. For more information call 408.293.2232.
