Sports meeting

Willow Glen High School will host a sports facility informational meeting on Oct. 18, 78 p.m., in the Gene and Mickey Long Media Center on the school's campus. The purpose of the meeting is to inform the Willow Glen community about the school's new state-of-the-art athletic facility.

Lacrosse festival

It's a fall festival, but it's got nothing to do with pumpkins, autumn leaves or Halloween.

Girls Lacrosse of San Jose will hold a fall lacrosse festival that will target two groups of girls ages 1018—experienced players who want to get in shape, and others who are interested in learning more about the sport.

The festival—to be held Oct. 24 and Nov. 7 (noon2 p.m. for girls in grades 58, 2:304:30 p.m. for high school girls) at the Kirk Community Center on Foxworthy Avenue near Meridian—will feature clinics, raffles of lacrosse gear and refreshments. Girls Lacrosse of San Jose coaches will provide the instruction and equipment will be provided.

A $10 donation will cover raffle tickets, insurance and expenses at the festival.

Girls Lacrosse of San Jose sponsored two teams of fifth to eighth graders last season and plans to add a high school club in the coming year. The season runs from February through May.

Lacrosse clinic

The South Valley Lacrosse organization, which offers a spring league for boys and girls in grades 36, will host a free fall clinic on Oct. 16, 10 a.m.noon, at Cahalen Park in San Jose.

The purpose of the clinic is to prepare players for the spring season that runs from February through May 31. Players need no previous experience to participate in the clinic, and equipment will be provided.

For more information on the clinic, email joy.bender@prodigy.net. To register for the league, visit www.sportability.com by Oct. 31. Parents volunteers and coaches are also needed.
