1892 baseball

The San Jose Dukes and the South County Jaspers will showcase baseball, 1892 style, when the Bay Area Vintage Base Ball season opens on April 3, 10 a.m., at Willow Street-Bramhall Park. The Dukes, named after the 1891­92 California State League Championship team, will wear period uniforms and play by 19th century rules with the equipment of that era.

Seahawks finale

The San Jose Seahawks Rugby Club will battle Sacramento in the final game of the season on April 2, 1 p.m., at Watson Bowl, 23rd and Taylor streets in San Jose.

Quakes rally

Fans of the San Jose Earthquakes will have the opportunity to meet and greet the players and coaches of the 2005 team at a Meet The Quakes Rally on March 31, 5 p.m., in the Plaza de Cesar Chavez in San Jose. Quakes play-by-play announcer John Shrader will emcee the event that is jointly sponsored by the Earthquakes, Soccer Silicon Valley and the San Jose Sports Authority.

The Earthquakes' season begins on April 2, 7 p.m., against the New England Revolution at Spartan Stadium.

Volleyball sign-ups

The United States Youth Volleyball League is taking signups for its 2005 spring season. The eight-week program will begin in April at Kirk Park in San Jose. USYVL is open to boys and girls ages 8­14 and the program will run Tuesdays, 6­7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9­10 a.m. To sign up, call 888.988.7985 or visit www.USYVL.org.

Soccer camp

Jorge Espinoza, coach of the Del Mar girls soccer team that tied for the championship in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League this winter, will host a spring youth soccer camp in west San Jose during the week of April 11­15.

The camp, which will stress fundamentals and advanced training, will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day and the cost is $125. For more information, call Tom Morman at 408.872.3134.

Sting softball
