The Willow Glen and Leland boys volleyball teams appear to be headed on a collision course. And they'll come crashing into each other this week with first place in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League on the line.
The Rams, 5-0 in the division, will host Leland, also 5-0, in a crucial league match on April 5, 7 p.m. Later in the week, the Rams will visit Oak Grove on April 7 at 7 p.m. and Westmont a day later at 6 p.m.
Willow Glen ran its record to 5-0 in league and to 8-5 for the year with recent back-to-back victories over Gunderson and Pioneer.
Senior Nick Baker dropped five kills to lead the Rams past the Grizzlies 25-5, 25-3, 25-13 the Thursday before spring break. Earlier that week, Baker had 11 kills and sophomore Tobin Chase added 10 in a 25-15, 25-14, 25-14 win over the Mustangs.
The Chargers, meanwhile, have been keeping pace. Leland beat Westmont in three straight games for its fifth league victory. The Chargers are 10-5 for the year, and that includes a third-place finish in its own Charger Classic. Leland beat Willow Glen in that tournament.
