Spring soccer
The Pacific Soccer Academy is accepting sign-ups for its spring soccer program. Lessons and a training league for players ages 4 and above will be directed by coach Mike Karr. Cat's Hill
The Testarossa Vineyards Cat's Hill Criterium cycling classic returns to the streets of Los Gatos on May 7. More than 700 professional and amateur cyclists of all ages are expected to compete in the event.
The first race begins at 10 a.m. with the race for elite women starting at 3:05 p.m. and the race for elite men starting at 4:10 p.m. The course, with a start-finish at Tait and Nicholson avenues, features the famous 23 percent grade Cat's Hill on Nicholson.
Race distances range from three miles for riders ages 10-14 to nearly 40 miles for the elite men. Admission is free for spectators, and race entry fees range from $15-35. For more information, visit www.catshill.org or call 408.248.8931.
Baseball showcase
Top 96, a baseball talent organization based in Boston, will hold a college and professional showcase scouting event on June 3 and 5 at PAL Stadium in San Jose. The local event will be one the first of the 16 showcases to be held across the nation this summer. The registration deadline is April 30.
High school coaches in the area are expected to recommend 800 student athletes, and 144 will be chosen to take part in the showcase that will be attended by college and professional scouts and coaches.
