Moran 2nd in 800

Willow Glen's Michelle Moran was second in the 800-meter run with a solid time of 2:32.14 at the Blossom Valley Athletic League Santa Teresa Division finals recently. She was incorrectly identified in last week's issue of the Willow Glen Resident.

Moran bettered her time at the BVAL finals last week, running 2:28.65 to finish seventh and qualify for the Central Coast Section semifinals on May 21 at San José City College.

Boys are champs

The Willow Glen National Junior Basketball Association third-fourth grade boys team won the championship at the National All-Star Tournament played April 16-17 in Irvine. Willow Glen won five games in two days, coming from behind for three of the victories.

The squad was coached by Mike Riley, Andy Schatzman and Terry O'Hara and team members included Jimmy Riley, Graham Moore, Jack O'Hara, Marquis Onorato, Matt Pinheiro, Tyler Howe, Danny Schatzman, Evan Aylsworth, Kevin Cali and Austin Hatfield.

Teams in the tourney represented 100 NJB sections and six states.

PAL soccer

Willow Glen PAL Soccer is holding registration through June for the recreational league season. The player fee is $80 and includes a jersey, trophies and a special San Jose Earthquakes game. Practices and games begin in August. For more information, call 408.808.1529 or visit www.WGPALsoccer.com.

Golf tournament

The Willow Glen High School Athletic Booster Club will host the 12th annual Ram's Classic golf tournament on June 7 at the Spring Valley Golf Course in Milpitas.

Registration begins at noon followed by a 2:30 p.m. shotgun start. The cost is $125 per player and proceeds benefit the athletic and spirit teams at the school. A dinner and auction follow the tournament. Tourney organizers are also looking for corporate sponsors.
