Youth soccer

The South Bay Youth Soccer League will hold sign-ups for boys and girls ages 4-14 (as of July 31, 2005) for the season that begins Aug. 20. The fee is $85 per child and registration dates include June 25, July 16 and July 23, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, at the Campbell Community Center near the tennis courts. PAL soccer

Willow Glen PAL Soccer is holding registration through June for the recreational league season. The player fee is $80 and includes a jersey, trophies and a special San Jose Earthquakes game. Giants night

Former San Francisco Giants star third baseman and manager Jim Davenport will visit San Jose on June 26 as the special guest at the 13th annual fundraiser dinner hosted by the San Francisco and San Jose Giants Booster Club at Lou's Village, 1465 W. San Carlos St. in San Jose.

Davenport will swap stories with former teammates and other past and present Giants at the special event. Giants manager Felipe Alou, one of Davenport's former teammates, is expected to attend the dinner along with Giants coaches.

Giants announcer Dave Fleming will serve as the master of ceremonies at the event that begins with no-host cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and a dinner at 7 p.m. The cost is $50 per person ($20 for children 12 and under).
