Out at Third: Lincoln Glen's Joe Gigantino goes in hard at third base, but he's tagged out by San Jose American third sacker Joey Rogers. It was a three-run walk-off homer by Rogers that lifted American to a 6-4 win.

Sometimes even a loss can be exciting.

The Lincoln Glen Little League all-stars may not agree, but even though the locals lost their first-round game of the District 12 11-year-old tournament, the game was one to be remembered.

Lincoln Glen lost 6-4 to San Jose American after leading for the majority of the game. San Jose American came back to score four runs in the bottom of the sixth to win it. Three of the runs came on a two-out, walk off three-run homer by Joey Rogers.

Lincoln Glen took an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the second after shutting down San Jose in the first. With one out, Blake Jacobson drew a walk and went to second on a base hit by Gavin Reilly. Mark Amman ripped a line shot up the middle that scored Jacobson and left runners at the corners. Amman stole second and Joe DeCecicco knocked in Reilly with a ground ball to short before San Jose could get out of the inning.

San Jose scored a run in the top of the second, but Lincoln Glen scored two more in the top of the third. Nate Dickman belted a ground ball through the left side and went to second when Austin Hatfield hit a flare to left that left two on. With runners at first and second, Jason De La Rocha hit a ground ball to short but beat out the back end of a double play, and with a great piece of baserunning Dickman came all the way around from second to score. De La Rocha went to second on a passed ball, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a wild pitch. Joe Gigantino drew a walk and Jacobson ripped a hit before San Jose could end the inning.

Jacobson had the duties on the mound for more than five innings, but De La Rocha came on in relief after one batter in the sixth. Jacobson struck out five in his time on the mound.

Reilly was the leader offensively for Lincoln Glen, going 2 for 2. Hatfield singled and walked. Michael Johnston, Jacobson, Amman, De La Rocha and Dickman each singled. DeCecierra went hitless on the day, but was able to drive in a run on a fielder's choice, and Amman and De La Rocha also drove in runs.

Lincoln Glen was to face Willow Glen on July 5 at 5:30 p.m. and will meet Saratoga on July 7 at 5:30 p.m. and Branham on July 9 at 3 p.m. at the Los Gatos Little League's Balzer Field.

The top two teams from the North and South pools will advance to the tournament finals on July 11 with the championship game to be played on July 12 in Los Gatos.
