Armed robbery at
Rotten Robbie

San Jose police arrested Steven Pease, a 59-year-old San Jose resident, on a charge of armed robbery.

According to Gina Teeporten, San Jose police spokeswoman, Pease entered the Rotten Robbie gas station on the corner of Foxworthy and Meridian avenues on Sept. 11 at 5:17 p.m. A cashier at Rotten Robbie was working the register when Pease allegedly walked up to the employee and placed a bag on the counter, according to police. Pease then demanded that the cashier put the money from the register into the bag, or he would shoot him, the police said.

Pease placed an item on the counter that the employee thought was a pepper spray can but which turned out to be a type of adhesive or glue in a tube, according to the police.

The police said when Pease ran out, the cashier wrote a description of Pease, his vehicle and his license plate number.

The cashier called emergency response and gave the license plate number and description to the dispatcher. The dispatcher ran the plate number and sent officers to Pease's residence, according to Teeporten.

Authorities found Pease sitting in his 1987 white Chrysler outside his residence. He was cooperative with the officers and no gun was found, Teeporten said.
