Scholarships?

The Willow Glen High School athletic department will sponsor a free presentation on the student-athlete and college recruiting on Oct. 19 in the Little Theater at Willow Glen Middle School. No reservations are needed.

A presentation for coaches and guidance counselors at 5:30 p.m. will be followed by a presentation for student-athletes and parents at 7:20 p.m.

Young Rams win

Shareef Allman ran up more than 100 yards of total offense to lead the Willow Glen frosh-soph football team to a 28-13 non-league victory over Monta Vista. Allman rushed for 94 yards and hauled in two passes for 15 more in the Willow Glen win.

Allman scored two touchdowns for the Rams and quarterback Tyler Heinkel tossed a 39-yard TD pass to Kurtis Smith.

Joe Alosi and Michael Gibilisco were defensive leaders with 11 tackles apiece for the Rams.

Alumni hockey

Willow Glen girls field hockey coach Samantha Bates was once a star player for the Rams. Now she's looking for her former teammates and other former Willow Glen players to return to the Cottle Avenue campus for an alumni field hockey game.

The former Rams will challenge the current Rams in an 11 a.m. game on Oct. 1. Alumni players interested in participating are urged to contact Bates at 408.504.7388 or samantha.bates@comcast.net.

Lincoln golf

The eighth annual Friends of Lincoln Golf Tournament, an event to benefit Lincoln High School athletics, will be held Oct. 14 at the Santa Teresa Golf Course. Registration and lunch begins at 11 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Dinner will follow at 6 p.m.

The entry fee is $175 and includes golf, lunch and dinner. The cost of the dinner only is $40.

Tee for Toys

The fourth annual Tee for Toys golf tournament which supports the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, will be held Sept. 30 at the Los Lagos Golf Course, 2995 Tuers Road in San Jose.

The tourney, co-hosted by the San Holiday Parade and Toys for Tots, begins with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The cost is $100 per player or $380 per foursome and includes range balls, green fees, golf cart and dinner. All players are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate.
