SCU golf tourney

The annual Santa Clara University Bronco Baseball Golf Tournament will be played on Oct. 21 at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club, 23600 McKean Road in San Jose.

The best ball scramble tournament begins with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start following registration that begins at 10 a.m. The tournament will be followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner, auction and raffle. The cost is $275 ($250 before Oct. 6) and the cost for dinner only is $65. Included in the entry fee will be green fees, a golf cart, a foursome photograph, range balls, tee prizes, lunch and dinner. Proceeds of the tourney will support the Santa Clara University baseball program.

Former Wildcats

The search is one for Los Gatos High School football players. The school is inviting all former Wildcats to a special alumni recognition game on Oct. 14 at the school's Helm Field.

The current Los Gatos squad will host Wilcox at 7:30 p.m. that night in a crucial league game, and alumni players will be recognized during halftime ceremonies.

Scholarships?

The Willow Glen High School athletic department will sponsor a free presentation on the student-athlete and college recruiting on Oct. 19 in the Little Theater at Willow Glen Middle School. No reservations are needed.

"The presentation will teach student-athletes and parents the truth about athletic scholarships and show them what it takes mentally, physically and academically to compete in college at any level," Willow Glen athletic director Peggy Booth said. "It will provide the materials and information for coaches, athletes and parents to help make knowledgeable decisions and choices regarding the recruiting process."

A presentation for coaches and guidance counselors at 5:30 p.m. will be followed by a presentation for student-athletes and parents at 7:20 p.m.

Players needed

The Los Gatos Metro/Santa Clara Sporting girls under 13 class 1 soccer team is looking for players for the coming season. For more information, call coach Shawn Medved at 408.354.1895.

Goalie needed

Lacrosse clinic

South Valley Lacrosse will offer a free clinic for all interested players on Oct. 15, 10 a.m.-noon, at Kirk Park on Foxworthy Avenue in San Jose. Equipment will be provided.

The organization is also offering an introductory course for players in grades 2-8 interested learning more about the sport of lacrosse. Dates are Oct. 8, 22 and 29, 10 a.m.-noon each day, and the fee is $35 for all three days. Equipment will be provided.

The Central Valley Fusion, a girls under 16 Class 3 comp soccer team, is looking for a goalkeeper (born after July 31, 1989) for the fall season. The Central Valley Edge, a girls under 17 comp soccer team, is looking for players (born after July 31, 1988) for the fall season. Lincoln golf

The eighth annual Friends of Lincoln Golf Tournament, an event to benefit Lincoln High School athletics, will be held Oct. 14 at the Santa Teresa Golf Course. Registration and lunch begins at 11 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Dinner will follow at 6 p.m.

The entry fee is $175 and includes golf, lunch and dinner. The cost of the dinner only is $40.
