By Kevin Sparrer
Who knew rams could swim? Well, apparently the Rams of Willow Glen are swimming quite well and are already 4-0 in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League this season in boys water polo.

Willow Glen battled Piedmont Hills last week and was able to tread away with a 13-12 victory.

The game began with both teams swimming and scoring quickly as they were tied at four after the end of the first quarter. At the half the Rams were able to take a small 8-7 lead before finally breaking it open in the third 11-8.

Five players scored for the Rams against Piedmont, including Scott London with five, Geoffrey DuBridge and Reese Rotsaert with three apiece and Charlie Kane and Sam Okun with one each.

Prior to facing Piedmont, the Rams downed Evergreen (10-7), Silver Creek (20-7) and Independence (10-5).

Independence turned out to be quite the test for Willow Glen, forcing a comeback for the Rams. Willow Glen trailed 3-1 at the half but was able to come back for the win.

London and Jason Tom are returning starters for the Rams this season. Rotsaert, DuBridge, Kane, Reese Kolar and Dustin Shean round out the starting line-up. Okun and Josh Dombro are the first reserves in the water for the Rams and coaches consider junior Freddy Martinez a top prospect.

Coaches Trevor Wiens and Brian Balistreri are also impressed with freshmen Chris Greene, Chris McCarthy, John Ladd, Kyle Tom, Nathan Wu, Sam Brandt and Tyler Paradiso.
