Willow Glen's Diem Ly Vo and Stephanie Tran will be on the court at Mt. Pleasant on Nov. 2-3 to compete in the Blossom Valley Athletic League girls tennis tournament.

Vo and Tran joined forces to win the doubles title at the Santa Teresa Division tournament, beating a team from Overfelt 7-5, 6-2 in the semifinals and a team from Andrew Hill 6-7, 7-5, 6-4 in the finals.

The top finishers at the BVAL event qualify for the Central Coast Section tournament.

Hall of Fame

The San Jose Sports Hall of Fame awards dinner and induction ceremony will be held on Nov. 3, 7 p.m., at the HP Pavilion. Tickets for the event are $200 each, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Northern California. A reception and silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m.

The 2005 inductees include longtime Saratoga High School football coach Benny Pierce; Brent Jones, who played football at Leland High School and Santa Clara University before ultimately becoming an All-Pro with the San Francisco 49ers; Ken Venturi, a golfer from San José State University who joined the PGA tour and won the U.S. Open in 1964; and Barbara and Kathy Jordan, who each won singles and doubles titles at Wimbledon and won the Australian, French and U.S. Opens.

The San Jose Sports Hall of Fame is a project of the San Jose Sports Authority, which supports youth and amateur athletics throughout the community and brings top sports events to San Jose. Visit www.sjsa.org.
