Bradys strike gold

Willow Glen residents Ken and Helen Brady rolled away with gold medals when they competed in the lawn bowling competition at the 2005 Huntsman World Senior Games held in St. George, Utah.

The Bradys, members of the San Jose Lawn Bowling Club at Bramhall Park, struck gold in two of the three lawn bowling events at the Games.

The Bradys were two of more than 9,000 athletes ages 50 and over representing 57 countries who competed in the 25 sports contested in the Senior Games.

The San Jose Lawn Bowling Club's is located at the corner of Camino Ramon and Britton. Free instruction is offered on Saturdays at 10 a.m. For more information, call 408.265.6438 or visit sjlbc.org.

 

Diamonds tryouts

The Diamonds, a girls 14 and under fast-pitch softball team, will hold tryouts on Jan. 8 at Presentation High School. Revolution tryouts

The Central Valley Youth Soccer League Revolution, a boys under 12 A division class 3 comp team, will hold tryouts for the 2006 spring and fall seasons. Boys born after July 31, 1993 are eligible to play for the team that finished third in the district and won three tournaments last season. Red Devils tryouts

The Central Valley Red Devils, a girls under 13-14 soccer team, is looking for players for the coming season. Tryouts and practices are held Wednesdays and Fridays at 4 p.m. For more information, call Kim Schauer at 408.261.9234.

 

Lincoln Glen LL

The Lincoln Glen Little League will hold sign-ups for the 2006 season on Dec. 15, 6-8 p.m., at the Blockhouse at River Glen Park. Players ages 5-18 (as of July 31, 2006) are eligible for the league. For more information, visit www.lincolnglenbaseball.com.

 

WGLL sign-ups
