Nine original films premiere at Willow Glen Film Festival

Move over Cinequest, there's a new film festival right here in Willow Glen.

As part of the popular "Thursdays and Fridays at the Theater" series, the first Willow Glen Film Festival will be take place at the Willow Glen Middle and High School Little Theater, 2001 Cottle Ave., on June 16 at 7 p.m.

As the last show of the season, nine films will be shown, all done by local Willow Glen talent.

Robert Shelby, a film student at DeAnza, will show his film, Rebecca, a story about where dreams end and the day starts. Eric Willis is a film student in San Francisco who will show A Walk in the Park, a story about two talking dogs that get separated from their master in the park, and their trip back home.

John Braunreuther is employed by DreamWorks and will show his film, Hankzilla, a story about a water monster. Jasper and Owen Kahn are Willow Glen Elementary school students whose film, Sinister's Escape, is a story about a Lego jailbreak. Mike Foley, a Willow Glen business owner and husband of Pam Foley, San Jose Unified School District Education board member, will show Lunch, a story about the pain of hunger and the joy of a quesadilla.

Marcus Mancuso, a student at Willow Glen High School, will show his film, Cookie Time, a story about cookies and the future. Charlie Guptill, a student at Willow Glen Middle School, will show The (OK) Escape, a funny spoof on two prisoners escaping from one side of the street to the other.

Dave Markham will show his film, Jane's ABCs, about an ABCs recital.

The final entry is Pat Daly's Soccer-mania, about a ragtag crew of soccer girls trying to make it to the big time.
