Tough times and sad
times for San Jose

The past few weeks have been tough for San Jose. Even though I believe the mayor is not guilty until proven otherwise, his indictment is a sad chapter in our history.

I'm proud, however, that Vice Mayor Chavez and the city council are working hard to keep our city on the right track with some dignity, especially given the hysterics we've heard from a few journalists and political insiders.

San Jose faces very real challenges that will be with us long after the current mayor has his day in court. If this scandal has taught me anything, it is that Cindy Chavez is capable of leading the city in a way Mayor Gonzales never could.

Zanotto's Willow Glen
has a nice ring to it

Just when I was ready to complain about the lack of competitive/specialty grocery markets in Willow Glen, it looks like Zanotto's may have come to the rescue.

When one considers the many markets in Willow Glen that are no longer part of our family-oriented community, it gives us hope that Zanotto's will prevail in their negotiations with the San Diego-based Asset Management Group.

We applaud Willow Glen Neighborhood Association President Ed Rast in his efforts toward this endeavor.

Hopefully, come September I can become a valued and loyal customer of Zanotto's Willow Glen. Hum, Zanotto's Willow Glen--has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
